Fantastic Replica of the Grand Cross of the Order of the German Eagle

DESCRIPTION: Here is the finest replica of the Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Grosskreuz (Order of the German Eagle, Grand Cross.). This is a wonderfully crafted replica of the most beautiful medal or order of the Third Reich. It was awarded only to prominent foreigners; particularly diplomats who were considered sympathetic to the NSDAP. One of the only two exceptions to those rules governing presentation were foreign minister Constantin von Neurath and Joachim von Ribbentrop on the latter’s appointment as foreign minister in 1938. For military recipients the order featured crossed swords and without swords for nonmilitary diplomats and persons who had achieved great world fame such as American Henry Ford, whom Hitler wished to honor. The overall appearance and the name were reminiscent of Prussia’s Order of the Black Eagle and Order of the Red Eagle; it certainly rivaled the sheer beauty of these two gorgeous awards. The award consists of sash, medal, and the breast star and it is considered the First Class designation with swords. We have searched the web to see if anyone had anything comparable with absolutely no luck. We believe the piece was made in the 1950s by the famed producer of the medallion arts, Rudolf Souval of Vienna, Austria. This firm made original N.S. medals and orders in the 1920s and 30s, and during the war years, but continued in a small way in the 1960s although it was illegal to do so concerning Nazi awards. How they managed it we can’t fathom, but the excellence of this order we offer cannot be denied. It is the exact weight and dimensions of the original and fully up to the quality standards expected with a Souval replica. There is no more beautiful a European order than this one, that is so dramatic in its entire presentation. The set includes the First Class Grand Eagle, the star to the above, and the full sash. The price of an original would be astronomical if one could ever find one and it's highly doubtful you ever could actually find one. The original order that Henry Ford received on July 30, 1938, and one that famed aviator, Charles Lindbergh, received in October 1938, are still with their respective families and I think we can assume will never be for sale. So what’s the next best thing? Why, it’s this wonderful, magnificent, museum-grade replica that we offer.

PRICE: $3,800.00: Sale: the consignor has decided to offer it for $2,950.00
