Postcard with Greeting sent by Adolf Hitler and Important Party Leaders (Item AHSIG 3-2; AH 31-2; PERS 7-7)
|
DESCRIPTION: This picture postcard was sent to Frau Rust, an early secretary for the NSDAP. It’s postmarked from Nuremberg on 28 July 1931, and is written in pencil and conveys the heartfelt greetings from the following:
Adolf Hitler. A personal greeting and an early signature
Julius Streicher. Gauleiter of Franconia; he was a delegate to the Reichstag from Thuringen
Dr. Herbert Albrecht. A very early party member from May 1923
Julius Schaub. One of Hitler’s main adjutants; he was a recipient of the Golden NSDAP Party Badge number 81
The front of the card is a lithograph depicting Die Burg (Castle) im Westen. Additionally, there is a postcard provenance dated 27 July 1976. (Coincidentally, it was sent one day before the postcard was sent 45 years earlier!) Ben E. Swearingen, of Lewisville, Texas, who was long-time collector and ultracompetent authority on Third Reich memorabilia, delivered the provenance to Mr. Frank Gish, another long-time collector from Tustin, California. It's interesting to note that Swearingen identified all the "difficult" signatures on the card, yet neglected to mention Hitler's! We suppose he took that one for granted! For those not familiar with Dr. Herbert Albrecht, he was one of the earliest supporters of Hitler and after the Machtergreifung he became a Gauleiter and a member the Reichstag. Earlier, he was a member of the famed Deutschvolkischer Schutz und Trutzbund (German Nationalist Protection and Defiance Federation). This is a stunning collection of signatures of early members of the Nazi Party, predating Hitler's meteoric rise to power.

Important Hitler Promotional Document (Item AHSIG 3-3)
|
DESCRIPTION: This is the document advancing Baron von Funck of the General Staff of the IV Army Corps, was a named attaché to the seat of the national government in Spain, effective 30 November 1936. Because of this, he is to wear the uniform of the German General Staff. Retiring at the same time from his post as military attaché to the German embassy in Madrid would be Lt. Gen. Kühlenthal, who was also military attaché to the German embassies in Paris and Madrid and to the German Mission Lisbon in Paris. This is signed in hand by ADOLF HITLER, the Führer and Chancellor of the Reich. Below this is a signature of the War Minister of the Reich and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces von Blomberg. Across from this it says: “Commander of the Army, F.A. Schmundt.” Then “For the War Ministry of the Reich Az.21 c P A / G Z (I) Gen. St d H.” With this document there is a rough translation by the Dept. of the Army Military Institute at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. It’s a letter from the above to a Mr. Steven Tonar. This institute was in reply to Mr. Tonar’s request. It seems he was asking for information on a Gen. Schmundt, whose name is highlighted at the bottom of the translation as it appears below. Above Blomberg’s signature is the official Reich’s seal embossed with the National Eagle and the words “Der Reichskriegsminister . . .” (“Reich’s Minister of War and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces”). These promotions were hand signed by the Führer and Blomberg and are significant to Third Reich history and are very important indeed. The importance of these documents cannot be underestimated. The price is commensurate with their great importance.

Document Signed by Hitler Congratulating a Couple on their 50th Wedding Anniversary (Item AHSIG 3-5)
|
DESCRIPTION: Here is a beautifully executed document with Hitler congratulating a couple on their 50th wedding anniversary. A letter accompanies it. The document reads: “I send you warmest congratulations of the rare celebration of your Golden Anniversary. I hope and wish that you may have a long and undisturbed life surrounded by your family.” The accompanying letter is from the Minister of State and Head of the Presidential Office of the Führer and Chancellor and reads: “Sending you the enclosed certificate of honor on account of your Golden Anniversary. At the same time, the Führer and Reichskanzler grants you an honorary gift at 50, which will be sent to you by post.” Signed Paul Hellwig. Ironically, it was sent on Hitler’s birthday, April 20, and was written in 1940. Both documents are in excellent condition the colors still very vibrant on the greeting itself and the large “50” is raised in golden numbers. Indeed, this is a very rare document in itself as we are used to seeing Hitler signatures on mainly military or business matters, but here is a very personal greeting to a couple who were obviously very special to him.

Full-Page, Handwritten Letter by Adolf Hitler prior to his Appointment as the Chancellor of the German Reich (Item AHSIG 3-7; AH 31-34; SPECIAL LETTER; HH 4-28)
|
DESCRIPTION: This is a hand-written letter written by Adolf Hitler and sent or handed over to the future Reichsführer of the SS, Heinrich Himmler, who, at that early time, held the rank of Reichsleiter. Hitler and Himmler passionately shared academic interest in the importance of race and its crucial basis for all the endeavors of mankind; for instance: the superiority of the Aryan race and the inferiority in their mutual genetic opinions of other races. Thus, this letter has strikingly historical importance and is not only one of the rare, full-page letters in existence that is written out by Hitler, but because of its theme, it may be one of the most exceedingly important ones yet discovered. Here is a rough translation of the letter:
My dear Reichsleiter, dear Party Comrade Himmler! The improvement of the bloodline in a whole race is an important work of our National Socialist Politic. We cannot come to conclusions about a race before we have judged its achievement.
For today all the very best to you and your work.
Munich, Dec 25, 1932.
(Signed by Hitler in the recognized style of his signature for that period in his life.)
It is our considered opinion that Hitler was answering a letter from Heinrich Himmler in a continuing discussion on racial hygiene so crucially important in the Third Reich. Signatures of Hitler are considered very rare and of momentous importance to museums and collectors worldwide, but the fact is that a full-page letter like the one offered here is just a remarkable discovery, indeed! To say that the content of the message is any less than of great and sublime content would be almost absurd. The obvious reference to the teaching of racial heritage that was daily promoted by the Hitler Youth and can be exemplified on its members’ belt buckles and blades of their camp knives by the words: “Blut und Ehre!” (“Blood and Honor!”). The letter is written on a parchment-looking paper and measures 11 1/2 X 8 inches and is in excellent condition. As a historian who specializes in Third Reich history and who researches important memorabilia of the period, we must say we cannot imagine anything quite as noteworthy as the emergence of this archival gem from the past, as it now has done.

Above is a chart illustrating some of the signatures of Adolf Hitler. It shows how they changed a bit over several years’ time. The boldest and most powerful is seen at July 1940; however, we direct your attention to the signatures identified at March 5, 1933, and, especially, December 1934. You will note that the name Hitler descends more rapidly than on the other examples in some of the later years. Hitler’s basic style and special configuration never changed much after 1923, but since no two signatures are alike especially when writing to a close friend or party colleague as you see in the letter above to someone as close as H. Himmler, then he was likely to scribble a little. However, when signing an official document, he was infinitely more circumspect. It’s only natural that his various moods might have an effect on his writings and signatures. It should also be kept in mind that he might at one time be writing in pen or, instead, in pencil; it usually will make a very noticeable difference. The book from which this assemblage of Hitler signatures is derived is Leaders & Personalities of the 3rd Reich: Their Biographies, Portraits, and Autographs, Volume 1 by Charles Hamilton. The late Mr. Hamilton was the world’s foremost authority on signatures of famous personalities. It’s unfortunate that my friend, Mr. Hamilton, never got to see this historically important document before his passing because he, above all others, would have sincerely appreciated it.

|
DESCRIPTION: We are very proud to offer this unique set of signatures that was collected by a Hitler Youth boy during his visit to the Reich Chancellery. The signatures of these 20 high-level National Socialist dignitaries appear on the personal Reich Chancellery stationary of Adolf Hitler. Many of the signatures were obtained at an event at the Chancellery in 1935, while some were obtained afterwards. The Hitler Youth boy was proud enough that he had them framed with his photograph to recount those special times of meeting these unique leaders of the Third Reich. The signatures are as follows:
Adolf Hitler
Hermann Göring
Joseph Goebbels
Heinrich Himmler
Martin Bormann
Joseph “Sepp” Dietrich
Julius Schreck
Julius Streicher
Robert Ley
Rudolf Hess
Max Amann
Ernst “Fritz” Sauckel
Wilhem Keitel

Kurt “Panzer” Meyer
Karl Wolff
