He was assigned to the Bocham District, Hitler Youth District Section 9. The card when open measures 6 x 4 ¼ inches and it mentions all the pertinent information and a picture of Willi stapled inside. On the back are meeting dates for the HJ district. This is very nice and historically important. It’s in very good condition, and certainly rare.

Führerausweis Leadership Identification Pass for the Hitler Youth (Item YOUTH 10-2)

DESCRIPTION: Here is something rare in historical memorabilia, an ID pass for a Hitler Youth group leader whose name is Willi Vaupel born May 25, 1922. Above on this page we have the same lad’s standard Ausweis issued when he joined the Hitler Youth in 1938. But here we see that he obviously climbed quickly in the ranks and had become a district leader in the Westfallen Gau. All the pertinent information and stamps of approval are printed on the front of the Ausweis along with the signature of his superior leader. It has the official stamp (colored yellow) with the Westfallen district certification. The card has Willi’s picture inside across from a detailed duty instructional listing. This is indeed a rare document of history. It’s in good condition throughout, and measures 6 ½ x 5 inches when fully open.

Gauwettkampf of the Hitler Youth (Item YOUTH 10-3)

DESCRIPTION: This pamphlet called for competition in the Hitler Youth Reichsberufswettkampf aller schaffenden Deutschen. This was an annual competition in the youth labor league held in Gau Württemberg-Hohenzollern and particularly in Stuttgart, the city of the Auslandsdeutschen (out-of-town competitors). This one was held in March of 1938. There is printed inside a short statement from a speech by the Führer where he speaks of what he believes “about strength and power in the world and it must be always regarded and in anyway given and we must be able to live up to this belief and to have a concerned look at it and particularly to the benefit of the German worker.” There are 24 pages of announcements of schedules of various competitions.

Hitler Youth Knife (Hitler Jugend Fahrtenmesser) (Item YOUTH 10-4)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a Hitler Youth knife with scabbard that we recently found. It is a pretty good example, but does not have the blade motto and it is one of the models that has the plain, enameled grip swastika rather than the one that has the wavy background pattern in the design. The “RZM” mark “M7/80” means it was the code number issued to the firm of Gustav C. Spitzer of Solingen. The blade is in the average well-used condition. This is always expected as the boys used their knives in every conceivable usage as Boy Scouts are wont to do. These knives in any condition are getting harder to find today. This one is rated good plus.* The grip plates are perfect. The only problem is that the carry strap is all there (scuffed), but the tab that has the bottom snap cap is broken and we have noticed that about 95 percent of all of these knives ever found invariably have the same problem. These Fahrtenmesser more than any other Third Reich edged weapons were used and often abused. That of course is the nature of rough-and-tumble Boy Scouts worldwide. This is an excellent investment piece and reasonably priced. These sell rather fast as they are clearly the least expensive of genuine National Socialist blades.

England-Fahrt der Niedersächsischen Hitler-Jugend (Item YOUTH 10-5)

DESCRIPTION: This is a rare pamphlet that folds in three sections and announces that a select group Hitler Youth boys from Niedersachen, Germany were to travel to Great Britain in 1936 for a youth conference between these lads and their English Boy Scout comrades. The boys were from the Spielschar Hannover and this was a musical group of the H.J. that offered a beautiful musical concert to their British brothers. The pamphlet measures 5 ½ inches when fully open and is in near mint condition. As it is opened there is an English translation of a beautifully worded offering and the other side contains the song ”Wir Jungen.” (“We are the Youth”) and here are bits of beautiful wordage about national pride and loyalty. There is also a beautiful poem about the cantata that would be performed (see our images). The next page contains the program including the cantata “Die Welt gehört den Führenden” (“The World Hears our Leaders”). “Leaders” refers to the youth of the world who hear the clarion call of youth. From the listing, we see here it must have been a beautiful concert. The visitation and the cantata obviously worked out very well and the English Boy Scouts were very impressed by their guests’ politeness, efficiency, and discipline, and suggestions were made to modify the British Boy Scouts along Hitler Youth organizational lines. After all, Adolf Hitler thought the English were direct blood cousins of the Germans and that was the reason the English invasion army, by the Führer’s order, was allowed to re-embark and escape at Dunkirk from 26 May to the 4 June 1940. It was most likely the biggest mistake in the military history of the world. Hitler did not suspect the drunken, iniquitous fool Churchill and his anti-German viciousness and savageness would be the major problem for Germany and Europe after receiving such chivalric mercy at the hands of Hitler and the Wehrmacht May God prevent any more “Brother Wars.”

Führerausweis der Hitler Jugend for Member Gunter Neuhaus (Item YOUTH 10-6)

DESCRIPTION: Here is the nicest Führerausweis (Leader’s Identification Pass) that we have ever seen. These documents are extremely scarce and seldom found at least in this shape and featuring such an indubitably proud lad as is seen in the picture we show here. Young Gunter Neuhaus stands before his Kameraden with chest forward at full attention with conspicuous pride beaming from his face. This pride is for Führer and Fatherland and he so obviously radiated joy to be a member of the youth organization that carries the name of Adolf Hitler whom Gunter considered practically a Messiah and certainly “Der Befreier” (liberator in the spirit of Hermann’s mythos). Gunter was born 7/16/1922 in Solingen (the city of blades). He became a Hitler Youth Rottenführer on June 21, 1939. He rose in the ranks quite quickly. The Ausweis is stamped four times with the official district stamps of the H.J. and shows four signatures of various district leaders. His leadership Ausweis has the H.J. membership number of 8062891 and his Führerausweis number is 02001542. The last participation date was 1/12/41 and after that he very probably was inducted into the Wehrmacht and I hope to God he survived the horrid fratricidal war; so many of his brother Kameraden did not. The Hitler Jugend division of the SS certainly showed its mettle at the Battle of the Bulge. It is an indisputable fact they fought the good fight for folk and Fatherland and still does the fame of their glory remain despite the moronic castigations cast about by the Belanglosen (inconsequentials). Maybe a better description for these would-be history maligners is merely “planetary bacilli.”

Hitler Youth Enlistment Document Issued on Enlistment 22 March 1942 (Item YOUTH 10-7)

DESCRIPTION: This award document with the portrait print of Adolf Hitler was awarded to Hitler Youth member Heins Herres who, on 22 March 1942, has asserted on this day his sworn testimony and his fealty to the Führer on this day of his official entrance to the nation’s Hitler Youth. It is signed in ink by the leader of the H.J. Section Hilden I-230. It is also hand signed by the Ortsgruppenleiter. Directly under the picture it says, translated: “I commit myself when in the Hitler Youth Movement every day to committed duty and active involvement in love and loyalty to my Führer and our flag.” Under this in bold letters it says: “Heins Herres was enlisted today in the ranks of the Hitler Youth and the Führer commends him." This is an extra-nice political statement reflecting this initiates patriotism and loyalty to his beloved German Fatherland.

Beteiligungsurkunde (Participation Certificate) (Item YOUTH 10-8)

DESCRIPTION: This is a document from the Reichsberufswettkampf (Reich’s professional competition) in 1938. Those words are from the cover and it has the eagle insignia of the Hitler Youth that perches upon the official symbol for the H.J. surrounded by the cogged wheel of the labor organization. This was a special unit within the youth organization that sought to groom the lads for future labor leadership positions and it was a training ground for future technicians. This award document was to an H.J. member Hans Narr, who was the Kreiss winner on the Day of National Work on May 1, 1938. His specialty was in the textile group. Across from this information is a quote from the Führer Adolf Hitler, who says: “It must be our goal to be high-quality German workers and remove them from the primitive work ethic to a goal of quality work and leadership.” This was Hitler’s speech in February 1938, before the German Reichstag. Beside this, there is a wax-seal stamp with eagle and swastika (seal unbroken!) This item measures 8 ½ inches unopened and 17 inches open. It is printed on a heavy-duty document paper. This is a historically important archival document in Third Reich history.

Hitler Youth (HJ) Armband and a Rare H.J. Landdienst Cuff Title originally from the Same Member. Bought in Germany recently. (Item YOUTH 10-9)

DESCRIPTION: Here is an armband of the Hitler Jugend along with the cuff title that reads: “Landdienst der HJ.” The purpose of the Landdienst was to work the land and promote careers in agriculture among Germany’s youth. It was tasked with making agriculture an attractive and worthwhile alternative to life in the towns and cities. Landdienst members were paid employees who worked closely with farmers to increase agriculture participation. In 1939 there were 50,000 Landdienst members. Of those who took part in the Landdienst program in 1937, 10 percent stayed on to begin careers in farming. In 1938, this figure rose to 20 percent. A Landdienstgruppe consisted of at least 10 boys or girls and one leader, but some groups had as many as 40 members. A Landdienstgruppe was recorded in the Berlin area with as many as 75 active participants. In essence, the Landdienst members were ideologically sound and highly motivated and very patriotic. SS-Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler took a great interest in the Landdienst and many of its members eventually joined the SS and indeed were given preferential treatment to make this an easy transition. So, this organization was certainly a great asset to the future of the Third Reich. That future that was cut short by the “bringers of culture, diversity, and political correctness to Europe that was indeed indicative of all of these wonderful blessings.” The armband is the standard type as worn by the rank and file of the Hitler Youth. It is red with the diamond-shaped patch separately sewn where you can see a center field with a bevo-weaved, embroidered swastika featured. Emanating from the diamond is a white-stripe motif that goes all around the band. It’s sewn together on the back. The cuff title “Landdienst der HJ" is a black band in very light, thin cloth with the letters in a golden hue. The cloth is so light it has over the years become so thin as to start to fray in places, but it is holding and will be fine when displayed in a glass-covered riker mount (butterfly display case). It is a rare cuff title and should be preserved.

Singkamerad: School Songbook for German Youth (Item YOUTH 10-10; PARTYSONGBOOK 1-5; NSD 21-9)

DESCRIPTION: This without a doubt is the finest German songbook we have ever encountered. It’s hardbound and measures 7 x 5 inches and has 164 pages of songs and great illustrations all on the supreme Nordic Nationalist theme printed in the war year of 1941 by the central printing offices of the NSDAP, Franz Herr Verlag Munich. It is crammed full of the most beautiful patriotic songs of the Third Reich and the ancient songs of bygone, glorious years. The first illustration symbolizes the theme of this glorious little book where you see warriors of the Germanic past and the Third Reich standing steadfast guarding the “Holy Oak,” symbol of German patriotism, honor, and loyalty. Here stands Landsknecht along with heroic soldiers against Napoleon, a Teutonic knight, a WWI front soldier, and an N.S. SA trooper all battle ready with heart and hand for the Fatherland! Several more such inspiring illustrations fill the pages of this marvelous book. The songs are such as the Deutschland Lied, Wenn Alle Untreue Werden, Ich Hatt Einen Kameraden, Die Fahne hoch, Wohlauf Kameraden, and many more. The condition is very good and this is definitely worth preserving. This is an excellent piece of N.S. history.

Can National Socialist Subjects be Cute? (Item YOUTH 10-11; NSTOYS 1-1)

DESCRIPTION: Well, here is a little couple that certainly fits that description. A tiny-tot Hitler Youth doll and a girls’ division (BDM) Bund Deutscher Mädel girl. These are as charming as it gets. They are a petite 3½ inches high. These are absolutely not reproductions, but 100-percent original Third Reich German production. These dolls may be by the famous toy firm of Schildkröt or possibly Palitoy. They are in A-1 condition having been stored away by a woman who received them back in 1935 as a Christmas present. She never played with them (they were just too nice!); she stored them away as a wonderful keepsake of her beautiful time in the BDM. Only recently did they reach the collector’s market presented by Germania International and we are so very proud to offer them and they are in the original German cigar box that they reposed in together for some 80 years. The little uniforms are very accurate and even of the correct fabrics like the original uniforms were constructed of. A little artistic license was used in the boy’s armband, but his tie, crossbelt, belt, and shiny boots tell you a young youth leader is depicted here. The BDM girl has a little jacket with pretty buttons and a nice black, wool skirt. The celluloid heads and delightful faces are as charming as they could possibly be! For an N.S. Hitler Youth collector or indeed a collector of rare dolls, this jolly pair will certainly fill the bill!

Uniform Whistle Lanyard for Hitler Youth and SA Sports Directors (Item YOUTH 10-13; SA 14-35)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a rare device as seen on the uniforms of leaders of the SA and Jugend leaders of the HJ. On another site we recently saw one in green material and this would be entirely incorrect except that it would be for Jägerschaft members. The lanyards for these SA and HJ organizations would be brown, in color coordination with their uniforms. This beautifully braided example is exactly the color that it should be. It has the loop to go under the button of the epaulet and the clip at the other end to attach to the whistle. If you have a nice SA or Hitler Youth uniform, this will enhance it significantly. The lanyard is 12 inches long and in mint condition.

Army Belt Buckle on a Hitler Youth Belt (Item YOUTH 10-14)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a belt that speaks a story. We bought this from a lady that knew it was a German Army (Das Heer) buckle that was modified by the owner to fit him. He did that when he was inducted into the German “Volksturm.” This was the last-minute “People’s Storm” that was called up to defend the Fatherland against all the cruel and vicious Allies who brought death and destruction to sacred Europe. The leather belt is obviously the issue type of the Wehrmacht, but was cut down to fit the tiny waist of the young lad who would now wear it. The belt buckle retainer is missing. These boys were quite proud to fight and die for their nation and to wear the buckle that said “GOTT MIT UNS” (“God with us”). This was a matter of faith, pride, and inherent dignity like no other people has ever experienced and I like to use the expression that I think is reminiscent of the struggle of these young men: “And still does their glory remain, unclouded by age and undimmed by a stain and ever and ever their cause they uphold; the cause of the true and trusted and bold.” I dedicate this line to all the HJ boys and especially to my friend Willi Gehlen who served in the Hitler Youth and then in the Wehrmacht. “Unsere Fahne flattert uns voran!

Germanische Jugend (Extremely Rare) (Item YOUTH 10-15; RAREBOOK 2-20)

DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful volume of 63 pages of photos and text having to do with the racial purity of the German youth (Schriftenreihe für Rasse und Reich). Within the pages are beautiful portrait pictures beginning with a great profile picture of the Führer. Then there are many pictures of Aryan youth from Norway, Denmark, and Germany. Some are full page and the photography is phenomenal. You also will see statuary by Arnold Breker that depicts the absolute beauty of Aryan folk. One of my favorite pictures brings out East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet. The picture shows a Waffen-SS soldier in typical camo outfit accepting the surrender of a Mongolian barbarian enlistee in Stalin’s army. There are quite a few pictures of Aryan competitors in Olympic-style sports. There are several full-page pictures of members of the women’s BDM (Bund Deutscher Mädel) in sports achievements. There are quite a few large pictures of Hitler youth and NSKK activities including glider sports. There are two pages devoted to the marine Hitler youth (dramatic!). The book is in large format as are most of the pictures measuring 9½ x 12 inches. I would say that this book is extremely rare and subject matter is extremely important to any person who wishes to view the Third Reich in its true perspective.

Hiking Knife for a Member of the Deutsches Jungvolk in der Hitler Jugend (DJ), “German Youngsters in the Hitler Youth” (Item YOUTH 10-17)

DESCRIPTION: The “DJ” was one-half of the Hitler Youth (HJ) organization for German boys from the age of 8 to 14 years old. When members of the DJ reached the age of 14, they transferred into the Hitler Youth where they learned more military skills in preparation for conscription into the Wehrmacht. The DJ knife was a short-lived experiment. After 1936 and incidental to a few mishaps involving these kids with knives, the leadership of the DJ decided to stop issuing them. These knives were a smaller version of the HJ knife and the fittings were made of aluminum and had black, checkered Bakelite grips on each side of the handle. In the case of HJ knives, the enameled insignia was inlaid on the grip. On the DJ knives, the enameled logo of the HJ is fastened to the front of the sheath. The blade is about 20 cm or nearly 8 inches long and had a more pointed look to the blade than the normal HJ knife. The sheath is similar to the standard HJ type and painted black. These little knives are extremely rare and we will see a hundred Hitler Youth knives to even one of these appearing. This particular Deutsches Jungvolk example is in the condition that you might expect knowing it was used—and abused—by a young lad who was probably 11 or 12 years old, or so. The knife overall is in good condition. The blade is remarkably excellent even though it went through many sharpenings in its history. The fastening strap and closure snap are in good condition with some natural wear to the leather (to be expected). The HJ insignia in enamel is battered and chipped, but remarkably, still there. On the back of the sheath is the name “R. Masse” lightly scratched in (probably the name of the boy who owned it back in the days of the NS Imperium!). Even the original leather washer between the crossguard and blade is there and intact. “Blut und Ehre!

Hitler Youth Knife (Item YOUTH 10-19)

DESCRIPTION: This is a “Fahrtenmesser” (hiking/camp knife) of the Hitler Youth. This one is in very good, but in used condition as far as the knife is concerned. The scabbard, while in very good shape as for the paint and the knife, is seen with no dents or abrasions. The leather is pretty good, but the strap that has a snap button is distressed in that the one end of the retention strap is missing and this is quite common when these boys’ pride and joy show up. The black, plastic grips are perfect and so is the enamel youth diamond. The blade is marked on the ricasso “SM/1940” and on its other side, “Germany.” Don’t let that throw you; as in many items of the Third Reich period the maker no doubt exported blades to English and American sporting goods dealers, but after the Machtergreifung of the NSDAP in 1933, the conversion to National Socialist supplies was brought about with gusto, but such things as knife blades still showed the export markings as is the case here. Tom Johnson had one marked in the same identical way in one of his weapons reference books. This is a nice example.

Hitler-Jugend Shooting Target (Item YOUTH 10-21; HUNT 9-14)

DESCRIPTION: This speaks for itself: a great item from the Hitler Youth organization. Guns were not totally banned in the Third Reich—only to certain of its individuals. The young were taught early to be able to use a gun during their turbulent times. Hitler expected everyone armed to show up in the streets ready for action should it be warranted just as they did during the Freiheit of the Weimar Republic, which did restrict guns. Our gun shows here often sell bumper stickers that state Hitler took the guns–nope! This is in excellent condition, albeit, it was folded, otherwise, pristine.
