LDO Cards (Item PINS 1-1a)

DESCRIPTION: In our stickpins that are silver (only) we have a limited group of LDO cards that were among the group of jewelry bought from Herr Schnell. The cards are in mint condition having never been used. They were issued to him to mount his stickpins on. He was licensed under the LDO (Leistungsgemeinschaft Deutschen Ordenhersteller, The Administration of German Orders Manufacturers. This organization published and enforced regulations controlling the production of most military wards including materials used, dimensions, manufacturing techniques, etc. Since Herr Schnell made miniature medals and insignia in the form of stickpins they were still considered official Third Reich- and Wehrmacht-sanctioned relics, and even though he did not design or produce actual full-sized medals, he still had to be registered with the LDO. We understand that only the pins with military connections were required to have the LDO cards when sold. Such items as the tank badge, guerrilla badge, army and air force badges, eagle insignias, wound badges, etc., were mounted on these cards. When a badge was mounted on these cards slots were made on the five lines that you see in the picture, and the stickpin (needle) was mounted therein. You can also see the ‘0041’ control code in the left-bottom corner of the card. This was the LDO code for stickpins issued to Schnell. The cards do not have the five lines sliced as this was done only when a lot was being sent out. We think it was because various pins were differently mounted. We sell these cards separately. If you would like to mount your prized stickpin on the LDO card we will charge only $10.00 per card if bought with a stickpin; otherwise, $15.00, if sold separately. The cards make for a very nice complete display and they too are historically important.

PRICE: $10.00; with stickpin purchase $15.00; separate
