NSDAP or SA Armband (Item SA 2-A; NSDAP 18-32)

DESCRIPTION: Here is the best one we have ever had over the years. There are armbands out there in cyber land, but here is the epitome of N.S. armbands with the paper RZM tag within; this is usually a much sought-after “bonus” because even in some of the finest originals offered, this tag is missing, and they always should appear in N.S.-issued bands. This band is about mint in condition. It has the white banded, white circle mounted on red wool and the swastika is comprised of multilayered pieces of black strips of hard cotton overlay of over seven pieces. This is the text-book issue N.S. armband and about the nicest you will ever see. Yes, it costs more than some of the inferior ones out there and some of them are reproductions, but this one is 100-percent genuine and of the period.

SA Drum Hanger

SA Gorget

SA DRUM HANGER (Item SA 2-1)

DESCRIPTION: This is seldom-encountered accouterment that was important to the music-corps contingent of the SA. It is the hanger for a trommel (drum). It bears the early SA-style eagle with the immobile swastika; probably pre-1933. It is in brass with hooks for the drum lid and swivel for mobility. This is a fine original historical item.

Nazi Ring

Nazi Ring

Nazi Ring

NAZI RING (Item SA 2-2)

DESCRIPTION: Done in the usual art-deco style as used by the SS and the SA. This ring is unknown in design. Definitely original and coming from the collection bought in Stuttgart Germany when the other fine rings were bought. We first were led to believe that they were by Wilm of Berlin, but subsequently found out that they were not, after all. So we actually don't know what company made them. The unusual aspect is the manner of the color usage. It is on a white enamel field with the swastika in the center of a red circle. Could this have been meant for a Nazi unit outside the Reich itself? The design of the shank was simular to the style of various 1930's designs attributed to Wilm and this is how the confusion possibly arose. Marked with 835 silver
designation inside. Rare and neat!

Political Eagle Cap Device in Silver (Item SA 2-4)

DESCRIPTION: The excellence of this political or SA Kepi Eagle is spectacular. It is highly detailed and struck in pure silver. It has the RZM and M/144 marking in high relief in the back of the eagle. The pins are intact and the piece is in excellent condition, throughout. This is one of the pieces that was rescued from the Russians in 1945 (see our description of the various Victory Rings) and possibly made by master jewelers Sy and Wagner. This could be for the Kepi of a high SA leader or a Reichsleiter??? In any case is a really fine example of NS insignia.

This one is dedicated to flag bearers and trumpeters of the Sturmabteilung, SA. There is an SS Fahentrager pictured as well. Seven figures are shown and this also would be a great item to frame as a token of the NS Kampfzeit. This is not a copy, but 100 percent original and in great condition.

Cut-out Paper Figures of SA Leaders (Item SA 2-6)

DESCRIPTION: This is a group of figures pre-1934 made for school children to instruct them in the ranks of the Sturmabteilung, Storm Detachments, or SA. These were in the form of paper cut-outs. There are eight figures from SA Chief, who was Ernst Röhm, to an Obersturmführer. These measure about 4 inches high each and the sheet is in fine condition. They should be put into a frame and displayed, thusly. A great early piece of Third Reich Kitsch.

 Concentration-camp Money (Item SA 2-7)

DESCRIPTION: This is reputed to be actual camp spending money from Oranienburg, near Berlin. We bought this in Germany and it looks old and authentic, but we make no guaranties with it. Those who know this numismatic item better than we will be the final word on it. In the meantime we will price it reasonable enough for the question. <

Beautiful Framed Patriotic Wall Hanging (Item SA 2-9)

DESCRIPTION: This is an absolutely stunning hand-embroidered panoply of Third Reich motif. It is similar to the type made for sojourners and sailors who visited the far east. We believe this may have been the original case with this one as well. It probably was commissioned by such a serviceman in the 1930's, but later when he joined the SA he substituted a picture of himself or his ship with this little photo of a famous painting called 'The New Dawn.' The patriotic zeal portrayed in this presentation is obvious. The words at the top seem to carry the message "Rather Dead than Enslaved" and the "Heil Hitler at the bottom needs no elaboration. The old Reich's flag and the new Hakenkreutz banner in full embroidery are also seen in radiant glory. Accurate right down to the silver tassels under the spear-like flagpole tops. The size with frame is 22 x 17 ½ inches. This is a wonderful centerpiece for a Third Reich collection of early Kampfzeit items. Extremely rare!
