DESCRIPTION: Here, once more, Germania International, LLC marches forward far beyond all the competition and “forum fools,” and we have procured one of the most important historical objects of the Third Reich. This is a genuine film projector that was used by the Hitler Youth in its leadership-training program. The projectors, limited in number, were provided by the AMT (WS) for units that had an HJ projector program. The projector came complete to a unit for 100 Reichsmarks. Offices and persons outside the HJ could order the HJ projector as long as they agree to make the equipment available at any time to the relevant HJ unit. They were closely monitored. The projectors were developed by the AMT (WS) as an important tool for educational work. The Stabsleiter ordered that each Hitler Youth headquarters’ home was to have one. So it was therefore necessary that for each HJ leader and each Mädel leader to learn how to use this important educational tool, and to work with party and government offices to secure a projector for the locations there was always an order observed that by order of the Reichskassenverwalter that these precious projectors were to be inventoried and kept secure. Each educational filmstrip was purchased for one Reichsmark from the sales office of the “Verwaltungsmt der Reichsjugendfuhrung,” payment with the order. There were many historical themes glorifying German history and the story, purpose, and agenda of the National Socialist movement. All filmstrips used in the educational program for the Hitler Youth carried the subtitle ‘filmstrips for usage! Much more information about this advanced program and about the use of the projectors and the worldview educational agenda can be seen by using your favorite search engine using “Hitler Youth Worldview Educational Material.” There is a concise translation of the original archival material here and it goes into the use of the very projector that we offer here. The absolute rarity of this machine in this great condition goes almost without saying. We do not know of any dealer or website where one of these projectors and filmstrips was ever offered before. This is absolutely an incredible find considering the very considerable historical importance of the item. Here before your eyes is the very essence of what National Socialism was about; the political themes, history, the proud German past, hopes for the youth, the ferocity and evil of Germany's enemies, etc. You see before you what Germany's youth perceived, and from the original source, the original equipment. This transcends all the gasmasks, sleeve titles, medals, helmets, and offers the buyer the ultimate in German culture. The youth movement was what it was all about after all! Need we say more? We have presented nearly 60 pictures of this projector and its accouterments for you to view that will include pictures of the storage case plus pictures of the projector and parts when packed in the case. The electric system was changed by the former collector-owner so that it can be used in the American system. You can see the new electrical plug and in one of the pictures you can see the old European plug that was saved with several other accouterments in some of the last pictures. Along with the projector are 13 training filmstrips—12 of them in their respective boxes—with the names of a particular subject on each, and also the insignia of the Hitler Youth and the words “Bildband für die Schulung in der Hitlerjugend,” “Picture edition for the schooling in the HJ.” We have provided pictures of the lenses, instructions on the case lid, and in the corner of the case is a contraption with a cage-like appearance. Was this a speaker? For a sound attachment? This we do not know, but we could not remove it from its corner compartment. In addition to the training films there is another canister that says in English “Valve operating mechanism” and inside is another filmstrip that has some further instructions. I guess this is used if one wanted to get deep into the use of all the equipment including the cage-like thing. There are also two short filmstrips without cassettes that appear to be some private footage having to do with the original HJ lad who last had the kit before the end of the war. We have to the best of our ability also taken a couple of pictures directly from the film rolls. You can just imagine how many hundreds of informative and interesting pictures can be seen from this amazing outfit. Note the pictures of the ancient Germanic tribes. There is a whole strip on this subject. The collector that we purchased this from went a step further and he actually copied some of the projections to 6 x 4-inch snapshots with his camera. We show 15 of these here. Mind you, these were photographed from screen projections and the originals, when projected, are many times more clear and crisp. There are also about eight or nine printed explanation sheets measuring 3 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches containing several pages each that give an explanation of some of the pictures on the filmstrips. These are in rather used and a little-bit-abused condition having been used by the HJ on a very regular basis. The buyer would be advised to take these original sheets and blow them up on a copy machine to preserve the material in copies or in a computer file. There is a vast wealth of historical material here for the museum, advanced collector, or researcher. So here offered is what we think to be one of the most historically important offerings to come along in years, both as a prestigious cultural relic and also an educational experience right from the original source with the original equipment. The projector works fine and that alone is astounding. Don't miss this possibly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an original piece of paramount importance to contemporary history. Here are some of the subjects as listed on the tubes of film: 1. “Von der Alten zur Neun armee” 2. “Deutschen Weihnachten” 3. “Deutsche jengeits des gronzen” 4. “So leben unsere varfahren” 5. “Land der grenze” 6. “Erbkrankor Nachwuchs” 7. “Sudenten Deutschtum” 8. “Versailles und reiches” 9. “Erbkranker” 10. “Ostmark des Deutschen Reichs” 11. “Gefunde familie, gefundes volk” 12. “5,000 Jahre Germanentum” PRICE: SOLD |

Reich Party Days Souvenir Knife (Item YOUTH 8-2; PARTEI 3-14) |
||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: Here is a very rare Hitler Youth-style knife as would be purchased as a souvenir of the rallies at old Nuremberg. They came in two styles: one with stag grip as shown on page 587 of Tom Johnson’s book, German Daggers of World War II. The other is with the black Bakelite grips in the standard HJ style, but without the Hitler Youth diamond or enamel set in the grip and, of course, this knife is smaller than the full-sized HJ Fahrtenmesser. The other difference is that the one in Johnson’s book has no maker, while this one we offer has the clear, distinct mark of the E&F Hörster Co. in Solingen. Over the years the leather retaining strap has shrunk and cannot be closed. Other than that this prodigiously rare little knife is in wonderful condition with a practically mint blade that shows tiny specks of minor surface rust. The felt grommet is still there between the blade and cross guard. The letters are still clear as are the eagle and Nuremberg symbol (crest). The scabbard retains its original paint. All in all this is an extremely rare example of one of the rarest edged weapons of the Third Reich and certainly the most interesting. The length of the knife in its scabbard is 8 1/4 inches; the blade is 4 1/2 inches long. This is just a great little HJ and party rally gem.

Reich Party Days Souvenir Knives (Item YOUTH 8-3A & PARTEI 3-15) |
DESCRIPTION: These little knives are extremely rare but Germania International managed to find a small group of them (unissued) in Solingen where they were made. We had many requests for the ones seen just above but we only had one and could have sold it 10 times over for more than it went for. It is often the lacking item in major collections. We picked up a small group of them in our last German expedition and they very well could be the last available anywhere. They are the same basic pattern but these are by the famed firm of Puma in Solingen and although the other one was by E & F Hörster Co. in Solingen these are by Puma. The major difference is that Puma manufactured them with genuine stag grips instead of black plastic like the Hörster models. Other than that, identical. Also the issue envelopes are provided as well --Incredible!. Their length is 8 ¼ inches and the blade is 4 ½ inches long; the scabbards retain their original print. Do read the description of the Hörster one listed above and except for the stag grips they are virtually identical except that there is no rust and the leather retaining strap is not shrunk and snaps shut perfectly. The Nuremberg crest and eagle is clear on the beautiful blade we did have to remove 75 years of Cosmoline from them but they look great now! The Pumas were more costly in their day and considered rarer by collectors than the Hörsters. Remember when those are gone there will probably be no more and possibly ever! Prototype HJ Leader Dagger??? or Reproduction??? (Item YOUTH 8-3) |
||||||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: This great-looking dagger came our way while in Germany. Germania does not knowingly sell reproductions, but we also hasten to add that we can be fooled regardless of how long we have been at this field. We found this in an antique flea-market setting in Nuremberg a few months ago. We bought it for what seemed like a bargain price and it did seem to be very-well made. Not like the laughable repros out there, today. So, if someone identities this as a repro or fantasy piece and can back up what they allude we will certainly change the category. In the meantime we will offer it as a possible prototype of the Solingen manufactory. If it were such it would be a Hitler Youth leader’s dagger prototype since it has the distinctive diamond of the Hitler Jugend on the top of the pommel. Could it have been for a youth group in one of the countries allied with Germany which wanted its leaders’ dagger to be different from the German one? The scabbard bands are similar to the government officials’ or diplomatic corps’ daggers. The chain suspension is like onto the Luftwaffe 1st model dagger. The scabbard is similar to the army dagger. There the resemblance ends. The cross guard is like no other as is the clip that the chains emit from. The maker is Gustav Voss with a logo that we can’t make out because of the positioning of the Languet. It is definitely high-quality workmanship throughout. We would think if it turns out to be an actual HJ prototype it will be worth a small fortune, but be that as it may, since we just don’t know we will offer it with price based on what we paid for it. However, we have honestly stated what we know and don’t know, so please understand that our usual money-back guarantee is suspended in this case and the person buying it is given notice that there will be no returns on this piece under the circumstances and description. Having been advised, if it turns out to be a replica (it would surprise us), but “you pays your penny and you takes your chance.” There are persons out there who collect fine replicas also. For whatever purpose you buy it you will be getting your money’s worth whatever way it goes. But maybe you will be very fortunate after all??? The following statement is from the late James P. Atwood, the author of the book, The Daggers and Swords of Hitler’s Germany. He explains something about prototypes of Third Reich pieces. The reader may wonder about the considerable number of prototype pieces presented. With so many thousands of blades already produced in such varying designs, it does at first note appear strange that there should have been such extensive effort toward new models. However, when we reflect for a moment upon the economic significance of the blade industry, together with the fact that the wearing of special daggers had become a status symbol among the Party faithful and sub-bureaucrats, it becomes apparent that the sword and dagger trade could only expand. The whole art of edged weaponry was being revived, and new craftsmen and designers were being trained. Firms were in fierce competition to have their patented designs accepted by organizations newly authorized. These organizations might want a special dagger or sword, and functionaries and organizations having earlier authorized models were sometimes a bit envious of the designs approved for the newcomers to the upper strata. Consequently, a surprisingly large number of new designs and prototype pieces have survived to find their way into collections. So with the above in mind we offer this magnificent-looking dagger in the hopes, but not the assurance, that it was another of the prototypes manufactured in Solingen. This is an ongoing mystery and certainly a perceptive phenomenon; we are still doing some intensive research on it.

A Hitler Youth “Fahrtenmesser” By Puma (Item YOUTH 8-4) |
||||||||||
DESCRIPTION:Here is a very fine example of the Hitler Youth Knife. This one does not bear the “Blut und Ehre” motto but none the less is one of the official “scout knives” of the Hitler Jugend Movement. It is in top condition with original practically unscathed scabbard, minty blade, beautiful unmarked pommel and crossguard. Intact and unchipped central insignia. The only significant wear is on the carry strap and the strap band; that is from use not abuse (not bad at all). 700,000 out of 2,100,000 youths or only 3% of the membership in 1933 owned the Fahrtenmesser. Later about 51 Solingen factories produced these knives in the hundreds of thousands. This weapon has the RZM Marking (M-7/27) indicating that it was manufactured by the famed Pumawerk in Solingen. Puma knives were and are the best and their hunting knives were the most costly of all the ones produced by Solingen firms. So dear collector if you want the finest H.J. Knife in quality, here it is.

Hitler youth armband (Item YOUTH 8-6) |
|
DESCRIPTION: The typical armband of the Hitler youth (H.J.). This is a good specimen with a very little bit of fraying at the edges, otherwise in quite good condition. Does not have the paper RZM tag inside. Some stains that might wash out, 100% percent original.

A Hitler Youth Fahrtenmesser (Scout Knife) (YOUTH 8-7) |
||||
DESCRIPTION: This is the usual Hitler Youth knife with strap and scabbard. It is the most sought after version in that it has the “Blut und Ehre” inscription on its blade. (Most do not!) The hard usage by the lad who owned it is unfortunately very apparent and the inscription is quite worn as you can see in our pictures. On the other side of the blade is the RZM logo in a circle with the maker’s code but this also is quite worn and hard to see. |
Swallow's Nests |
Oil Painting of a Hitler Youth Musician (YOUTH 8-9 & ART 15-10) |
|||
DESCRIPTION: This is one of the finest original period paintings we have had the pleasure of offering. This is a very excellent painting executed by what we would consider to be by the hand of a Master. The colors are vivid and the young lad looks as though he would breathe. The detailing is just that fine. Remember, this is an original painting done during the time of the Third Reich. It was not done on canvas, rather it was painted on artist board. The frame is original (at least we believe it is). The painting is of a Hitler Youth musician. The “swallow tail” epaulettes tell us that the colors in these epaulettes would indicate the part of the country he is representing. The band members of the Hitler Jugend were especially favored by “Fuhrer und Volk” when they stepped forward and struck up the beautiful strains of “Der Fahnenleid" the song you hear playing on our site, and, the wonderful words come to the fore (Unsere Fahne flattern uns voran). The thrill and youthful exuberance demonstrated are overwhelming! The song was written by the National Reich Youth Leader, Balder Von Shirach. The lyrics are lilting yet strong. The Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler said, “The youth of Germany must be as fast as a greyhound, tough as leather and as hard as Krupp steel” yet compassion, kindness and nobility attended these youth’s as well and that is reflected in the face of this youth of yester-year. The rendering is in its original frame as far as we know. With the frame it measures 23 inches by 20 inches. The actual painting is 15 ½ x19 ½. We just can’t say enough about the quality of this great piece or the feeling it radiates. If you ever wanted to own what we can call a “minor masterpiece” of Third Reich art, here is the chance. This one was very probably worthy of inclusion in the “Haus Der Deutschen Kunst Collection.” We believe it says it all! PRICE: $2,800.00 An investment in REAL art. |
The Banner of the Sudeten German Youth "Czechoslovakia” (Item YOUTH 8-10 & FLAG 1-15) |
||
DESCRIPTION: The Hitler Youth had its own units in the protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the membership was open only to German or Volksdeutsche youngsters. In May, 1942, however, it was decided by the Liberation authority in collaboration with the protectorates cooperative government that a similar organization under the General supervision of the Hitler Youth, a Kuratorium fur Jugenderziehung in Bohmen und Moravia (Curatorship for Youth training in Bohemia and Moravia) was established in which Czech boys and girls between the ages of ten and 21 were required to belong. Membership figures as quoted by an official source in 1944 were in excess of 300,000. Officers and older boys wore brassards with the Wenzel-Adler which has the heraldic shield of Bohemia (left) and Moravia (right) on its outstretched wings. The uniform of the DJ (Deutsche Jugend) was essentially the same except for the fact that the runic (S) was issued instead of the HJ diamond. The DJ was the younger lads not old enough to join the ranks of the Hitler Youth. Boys in the 10 to 16 years of age were in the Deutsche Jugend . The flags of the youth groups contained the Wenzil Adler but without the Bohemia and Moravia shields. The Reichsprotector of Bohemia and Moravia, SS Gruppenfuhrer Heydrich, was featured in K.H. Frank's records as having provided the ideological essay of the Wenzels tradition. This revealed how he dealt with the historical foundations for his task in Bohemia and Moravia and how he endeavored to show the Czech people their constructive path in the “Greater Germanic Reich” in light of their own history. Heydrich was murdered by the British High Command not because he was an enemy of the Czech people, but because he was a friend to them. He brought culture, industry, art, music and refinement to the Czech nation and the Brits couldn’t let this state of affairs exist. Authors of recent dispassionate, objective books have admitted this. The Czechs, except for the Communists and other enemies of the Reich, appreciated the efforts of Heydrich and the Germans but after the war, many of the same people engaged in horrible terror against the Germanic people who had lived there for centuries. The bloodbath was unbelievable there is much on the internet about this- - almost too sickening to read. The flag is super-rare because every vestige of the German liberation was destroyed either by the Sudeten Germans themselves in fear for their lives or by the Reds who took over in 1945. Seldom if ever is anything soon from the era ever found -- so complete was the devastation and virulent hate. The flag is in very fine condition with the “Wenzel Eagle” in its center The historical significance of “Wenzel” goes back to Duke Wenzel who was revered as a national hero and saint in Bohemia and actually throughout the world. For instance, in England his memory has been handed down as Good King Wenceslas though the Christmas carol written by John Neale in the 1800’s. It was in 929 when King Heinrich of Germany, anxious to extend and secure his power, came marching into Bohemia and pitched his camp before Prague. A meeting of the minds and an accord was reached because Duke Wenzel was a Germanophile of sorts and had no wish to subject his land to a siege which could end in defeat and misery. Thus he secured an alliance with Germany. Later he was murdered by his own people who resented his non-resistance to the Saxon King. Obviously, the youth movement took his name and his eagle to be their symbol of a later alliance with Deutschland. An obvious repeat of events of 925. The flag measures 56" x 38" and has the imbedded rope attachment at the end. In the left corner is a blue shield separately sewn on with the (S) rune of the Jungvolk. It is on both sides of the banner and measures about 7" high and 6" wide. We feel that this is an official flag of the Czech National Socialist Youth of Bohemia and Moravia. Extremely rare and greatly desirable. PRICE: SOLD |

“Jungvolk” The Story of a Boy Defending Hitler’s Third Reich (Item YOUTH 8-11) |
|||
DESCRIPTION: We offer this prodigiously interesting book proudly because Wilhelm Gehlen has penned a really great “Tom Sawyer” personal perspective from within Hitler’s wartime Third Reich. This is a signed copy by the author himself. It is the autobiography of a young boy,Wilhelm Gehlen, born 76 years ago in 1933. “Willi” is still alive and in good health. His life is chronicled primarily over the war years in this volume through his family and neighbors, many who were in some branch of the military. His father is with a tank destroyer team stationed in Russia while his mother and grandparents hold the family together. His older brother is already a member of the Hitler Youth and has complete confidence in Hitler’s leadership. Willi was a member of the Jungvolk, the pre-Hitler Youth program for boys 10-14, although boys much younger were allowed to participate unofficially. Willi was one of those allowed to hang around the older kids partly because his older brother, Len, was already a proud Hitler Youth in good standing. In 1943, Willi was ten year old and by that time the Jungvolk boys knew how to change the barrel on a 20mm anti-aircraft gun. They loaded magazines, took messages under fighter bomber fire from one gun emplacement to the next or to HQ when telephone communications were shut down. The Jungvolk and Hitler Youth knew the sound of a P-38 coming toward them with cannons blazing and knew where the next fox hole was. Willi stood steadfast by the anti-aircraft guns handing magazines to the loader, when all around him "all hell was breaking loose.” It was a total war made even more so after the Allies began to approach Willi's home town. At one point, he and his mother were trapped behind American lines, only to find themselves rescued in the Ardennes offensive by German troops in Dec. 1944. With the expert assistance of Prof. Don Gregory, Willi Gehlen has relived his childhood memories of wartime, and in Jungvolk, the reader gains a perspective on life inside the Third Reich that is both fascinating and rare. Willi is a fascinating character indeed! Due to poor economic prospects in Germany, he joined the French Foreign Legion in 1948 and served in Indochina and North Africa. After his discharge in 1950, he briefly worked with the International War Graves Commission of NATO and finally retired in 1983. He lives with his American born wife, Barbara, in Eastern Tennessee. We have read the book and can say it is very well composed and completely compelling. It is one of those reads that is hard to put down. Fascinating with deep feeling by a man who loves his American home but also retains his faith in his German Fatherland but is rather disturbed by its present government and rather un-Germanic agenda, and strange alliances. “Unsere Fahne Flattert uns Voran PRICE: $32.00 plus postage |
