Book Nordisches Blutserbe Nordic Blood Inheritance by Willrich (Item NSD 10-3;ART 9-4)

DESCRIPTION: Here is one of the rarest and most sought after cultural books of the Third Reich with 36 color pictures by Wolfgang Willrich. There are also 28 black and white illustrations as well. There is a foreword by the Reichsbaurenführer (National Farming Leader) R. Walther Darré. It was copyrighted and printed in 1938. The book is ultimately important in the sense that it shows the face of the German Third Reich’s true agricultural importance, but at the same time depicts the face of the Germanic race in its strongest and purest form. The resolute determination and Aryan ideals that seem to emanate from the physiognomy of the men tell the tale of Teutonic greatness through the ages. The purity and astounding beauty of the woman portrayed by Willrich transcend even the goddesses. Wolfgang Willrich was the finest of all the Third Reich artists in his portrayals of human faces and costume. No one came close; not even any of the other great German artists of the past or during the Third Reich; a Reich know for realism in artistic interpretation. These faces of simple but noble farm folk say it all as to what it was that German soldier fought so hard, so bravely to preserve. It is Deutschtum, the spirit of Volkstum; Europe’s hope and ideal possibly still redeemable! The book has 64 pages and the size is 7 x 9 inches. The condition is excellent plus. This is an archival treasure personified?

Heil Hitler Ring with Swastika (Item NSD 10-4; GEN 9-15)

DESCRIPTION: This little ring has it all: enameled with squared-off not mobile swastika, the words “Heil Hitler,” and the very early Nazi eagles to the sides. Inside the shank it has the ‘935’ stamp (silver content). This is a rather petite ring and is of the Kampfzeit variety. This was just one of the rings produced in the name of NSDAP nostalgia. These were versions of rings that were produced in the 1930s and 1940s, but the patterns were from original nonofficial rings of the earliest Nazi periods—the 1920s. Some of the rings can have a slight fault now and then. The overwhelming beauty of the pieces makes the above statement minutely technical at best. This ring is the smallest that we handle. I do not refer to size, but rather dimension. But artistically it is the nicest (my opinion). It certainly has meaning and is beautifully designed. The early ones were sold around the Adolf Hitler Platz in the center of Nuremberg where the Führer took the salute of the various party functionaries as they marched to the Reichparteitag grounds. (Party Congress). The little souvenir shops around the Schonen Brunnen handled many of these types of rings, both in the 1920s and later. These recreated rings, Traditionsringe, in the 1930s and 1940s were artistically great. This is quite a rare little ring of the patriotic variety worn by Bewegunsglauber.

Enameled Swastika Pin (Item NSD 10-5; PINS 4-16)

DESCRIPTION: This is a lapel pin by nature. Although quite large it is brass with black enamel. It measures almost an inch square. This is a nice Bewegung article. This type was often worn by women to show solidarity with NSDAP ideals even though they might not be members as such and couldn’t wear the official party pin.

Patriotic Medal in Bronze (Item NSD 10-6; WWI 7-15)

DESCRIPTION: This is an art medal that on its face shows an Aryan German soldier stripped naked and chained to the rock like Prometheus of Grecian legend. Below his feet lies the German Stalhelm (helmet). This is a parody on Germany’s having lost all because of the horrible Versailles Treaty. On the back is a legend that translated means: ‘The Reich will never be destroyed if we hold together and be loyal.’ This is a fine historically important piece.

Nazi Flag

NSDAP Paper Flags (Patriotic) (Item NSD 10-7; GEN 9-18)

DESCRIPTION: Here is something quite common in the Third Reich, but somewhat rare, today. We managed to buy several dozens or so of these original little Nazi flags printed on paper in the proper colors and mounted on sticks. These flags were widely distributed when there would be a parade or celebration sponsored by the party or German government of the 1930s. In almost every demonstration of solidarity these little flags would be seen in the hands of patriotic onlookers among the populace, especially children who just loved to wave their swastika flag for the Führer.

Mosaic of Nazi Eagle (Item NSD 10-9; ART 9-5)

DESCRIPTION: This is one of not only the largest and heaviest Nazi relics ever brought from Europe after the war, but perhaps the most beautiful, as well. Its historical importance is obvious in that it is the official mosaic made for the grand opening of the Winter Help Work Program. This mosaic is comprised of 20,000 individual gold-colored and other-colored tiny tiles. Before the Wall went down, it was forbidden to bring out any Nazi articles from East Germany. Sounds like ebay, right! This was a communist law! An enterprising West-German antique dealer thought it should be removed from the red-terror regime so he disguised it under an 18th Century mirror, paid the export fee, and moved it through checkpoint Charlie "sweating blood" as he did. Now it's in the West and still forbidden as far as groups like ebay are concerned. This piece weighs in excess of 50 pounds. We have had a special carrying case constructed for it. The magnificent Object der Kunst is signed by the firm of August Wagner in Berlin-Treptow on one of the single tiles. It is approximately 4 x 5 feet in size (big). The Winter Help Eagle is in full detail with the swastika wreathed in green and tan leaves. The most incredible feature of this offering as to provenance is the fact that we include a picture from the Kolnische Zeitung, magazine, that shows this magnificent piece actually being constructed. Unfortunately, the antique dealer in his excitement lost the original magazine, but had photographed the cover and page. The Winterhilfswerk, or WHW, was a charitable collection that held annual drives to help people that were still unemployed in the early Party days. Once a year on a Sunday, all Nazi organizations were expected to make their personnel available for an extensive street collection. High functionaries of the Party as well as screen stars appeared at centrally located spots in the cities to collect money for the fund. Many of the little decorative pins we see in plastic, wood, and metal are the decorations given to persons donating to this program. These were worn in the lapel and showed that you gave. The story that came with this piece was that there was also an appeal to the school children of Berlin to donate one Reichsmark of their lunch money each at some point in time toward the WHW program, and for each child donating, one tiny tile was placed. Only 20,000 tiles completed the mosaic and 979,465 marks were collected as the wording below the eagle indicates. This is not only a most impressive and colorful relic of the Nazi regime, but one of the most historically important items ever offered in this field. This magnificent item hung in a museum display for over 15 years.

Book Commemorating the 9th of November (Item NSD 10-11)

DESCRIPTION: This is an edition of a book issued to commemorate the Munich Putsch of November 9, 1923. It is a chronology of the celebration in 1935. Each year the participants of that fateful event would gather for an entire day of commemorative ceremonies beginning with a march from the Burgerbrauheller to the Feldherrenhalle and after a moving ceremony there they would have a column march to the Königsplatz where the 16 martyrs repose in bronze sarcophagi in the Ehrentempel next to the Führerbau and Parteibau. All along the route the loud-speaking equipment would call out the names of the fallen on November 9 and the crowd would reply present!. This comes from the wording of the Horst Wessel Lied, where it is said that those murdered by red front, and reaction march still within our ranks. The booklet has only around 8 pictures, some of which are sort of NS-style impressionists in full color. There is a wonderful statement of purpose by Dietrich Eckart. Much of the book has to do with the martyrs. It is what was considered a sacred book chronicling the most meaningful event of NS history. The cover has an embossed depiction of the Ehrentempel and the NS eagle with swastika and ‘9 Nov 1936.’ Under this are the initials of Prof. Richard Klein (“RK”), the designer and publisher of the work. He was one of the favorites of Adolf Hitler in sculpture and design. This is very small book with huge meaning and importance. It measures 6 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches and has 32 pages.

German Bund Stickpin (Item NSD 10-13; PINS 4-20; G-ABUND 1-1)

DESCRIPTION: The German-American Bund organization was formed out of the ”Friends of the New Germany.” This organization was made up of people who were strong in their patriotic Americanism, but also conscious of their Teutonic ancestry and within them strong racial and nationalistic feelings were stirred up when Adolf Hitler was elected chancellor of the German Reich. Just as American Jews now support Israel, these German people supported the National Socialist movement in the Fatherland. The members wore uniforms, sang the Horst Wessel Lied, and flew the swastika flag, but always just below the Stars and Stripes. But because of the strong representation of the Semitic people in the media, the “friends” became out of favor with the American public and Rudolf Hess requested that all German citizens leave the Friends of the New Germany and all the group’s leaders were recalled to Germany. Shortly after that a new replacement organization was formed in March 1936, in Buffalo, New York and called itself the German-American Bund, or Amerikadeutscher Volksbund (AV). The organization chose Munich native Fritz Kuhn as its Bundesleiter. The Bund created recreational camps such as Camp Siegfried in New York, Camp Nordland in New Jersey, Camp Hindenburg in Wisconsin, and Spring Garden Park in Buffalo, NY. They met in Milwaukee and Chicago beer halls and one of our advisors here at Germania often met with some of the former members at the Genesee Park Restaurant in Buffalo. He considered them great, old veterans (often they had served in the U.S. Army after the second dispersal of the AV). They had many great stories to tell and our friend was a police officer in this Queen City of the lakes and spent much of his off-duty time with the Bundists over glasses of imported German beer. One of his best friends was Buffalo fireman, who in his youth, was a member of the Jugenschaft, the equivalent of the Hitler Youth. In the Bund, Franz had won the bronze star in WWII for saving fellow GI’s, but he never fired at a German soldier and would have never considered doing so. He nevertheless remained a staunch believer in German ideals up until he died. The stickpin is in pure silver. It proclaims the message in English: “Your fight is my fight!” and around the border “German-American Bund” is seen. On the back are the initial ‘AV.’ (see earlier our notes on this). Also you can see the phase: “Kampf Jahre 1937.” All Bund equipment except for clothing all badges, flags, youth knives badges, etc This stickpin was something made for one of the major distributors in Ludenshied, the insignia center during the Third Reich. The maker was the jeweler who sold us the entire stock of all the items he still had in his possession 60 years after the war. To see the whole story of how we came into these items see the section “About Our Rings.” This is considered a very rare stickpin and when one turns up here or in German auctions they bring huge prices for such a little item. We are able to offer a very, very, competitive price because of our good fortune at Stuttgart. We offer this prodigiously important piece of history at a fair price. If you will look carefully at the picture of the Bund leaders you can see that George Froboese, the Gaulieter for the Midwest, is wearing such a pin in his overseas hat. He is on the left side of the photo. Otto Willomeit, Ortsgruppenleiter of the District of Chicago, is on the right. National leader Fritz Kuhn is in the center. The uniformed man is unknown to us.

Austrian Homecoming Party Pin (Item NSD 10-16)

DESCRIPTION: Here is the patriot pin in beautiful enamel finish for the patriot to wear and promote the plebiscite where Austrians campaigned and voted for a return to the Germanic Reich. This was the Anschluss and the saying on this historically important badge is “Heim ins Reich,” “Home to the Reich.” The back of the pin has the raised 'F R' only. This must be the manufacturer's mark. Although not an official party pin, this was worn by literally millions of Austrians and Germans to promote this natural homecoming for the Deutsches Volk.

Original NSDAP Podium Banner (Item NSD 10-18)

DESCRIPTION: These whenever found are commonly called podium banners, but they are anything but common. They obviously were in fact used to cover the front of a podium when an NS officer or leader was to give a talk or conduct a symposium. It, of course, would set the stage, so to speak, for the NS subjects to be presented. It also helped to instill esprit d’corps in the audience. This is a rather nice, clean example miraculously without any mothing. It is one sided, of course, without stains or rips. The white field with swastika is separately sewn onto the red field as is the surrounding border. The bottommost portion has fringes along its edge and three tie strings to secure the banner against wind disturbance in inclement weather. It measures 22 x about 33 inches. This is just one nice original display piece.

Book Neue Deutsche Baukunst, New German Architectural Art (Item NSD 10-19; ART 10-11)

DESCRIPTION: This could be said to be the book of Albert Speer, who at the time of this printing (1941) was the general building inspector for the Reich’s capital of Berlin. The book opens with the statement made by Adolf Hitler at the Reichsparteitag in Nuremberg in 1936: “Kein Volk lebt länger als die Documente Seiner Kultur,” “Now people live longer than the documentation of their culture.” Thus, the buildings of the Third Reich were sound and beautiful, but reminiscent of the glory of early culture groups: Greeks, Romans, and Germanics. In the 96 pages of this marvelous book you will see such magnificent structures as the bridges of the autobahn, the ships of the KDF, Luftwaffe headquarters in Berlin, the Reich’s Chancellery, theaters, the 1936 Olympic Stadium, the Brandenburg Gate, the planned stadiums, honor halls, etc. The party grounds at Nuremberg, the German building at the Paris Exhibition, the Führerbau in Munich, along with the Erhentemples are depicted. The photography is astounding and is on 12 x 8 1/2-inch pages with full-page photographs. Here is the Third Reich as it was meant to be. The book is extremely rare and especially in this great condition. Except for a few minor stains on the off-white cover, the book is in great shape and is a treasure to the architecturally interested collector or any true Germanophile, who would like to at least bask momentarily in the greatness of Speer’s architectural genius and of others, as well.
