Tiny Spoon that was a Nuremburg Souvenir (Item NSD 14-1; PARTEI 3-10)

DESCRIPTION: This little aluminum spoon is actually a rarity among Andenken, or souvenirs, of the Reichsparteitag items that were sold at the souvenir stands that were to be found scattered about the grounds and also in the old city itself. For the collector of NS-period spoons this is a tiny, but tremendous find. We have never seen another anywhere in the hundreds of collections we have viewed. It is very petite--4 1/2 inches long. The widest part is an inch wide. Stamped on the back are the words “Aluminium-Germany” with the handcraft symbol of Nuremberg in the center of the words. This is cute, rare, and important to a prewar collection. With it was another Nuremburg souvenir spoon. This one with enameled Nuremburg city arms is included free along with the NS one.

Odd German Patriotic NSDAP Ring (the Art Deco Ring) (Item NSD 14-6)

DESCRIPTION: Here is another of the rings that were in the collection that we bought a few years back in Stuttgart. See About Our Rings and Silver Insignia. Always be advised that there are people out there who through avarice, jealousy, and plain stupidity, will attempt to plant in the collector's mind disinformation as to the originality of such items. When there appears on the scene a ring, or any other piece of jewelry, that these limited people have not seen before then it automatically becomes, in their little minds, a fantasy piece. They just can't even recognize the fact that original German rings were made on metal dies and the detail is always impeccable and, if enameled, that is also fine. Copies and true fantasy items are extremely poor considering the primitive ways in which these are manufactured. Why do we fill you in on this? Because, as the hobby gets bigger with many refined knowledgeable people starting to collect these treasures, it is only a natural that right along with the good guys will come an infestation of malcontents and slanderous morons. The authenticity of the rings we handle at Germania are unassailable. Why? Because they are 100 percent originals and real!!!, unlike the detractors, that are not real! So, now that we have expounded on the enemy and his vicious devious ways, let’s get back to this beautiful art deco-period NS ring. This one is a rather petite ring with an elongated swastika in silver surrounded by beautiful jet-black enamel. At the sides are NS eagles of the early Kampfzeit style. It has the (800) mark inside and some letters spelling out a company name or a designer's name, but it is unrecognizable. This may have been a bench second. We do know that this ring has been very badly copied, and offered on other site. The copy looks terrible, compared with the original that we offer. That is basically why I have offered up the explanation that I have supplied here. The copies are not even in genuine silver; at least the ones that have been seen. This original is a very-sharp-looking piece of jewelry and you will be proud of adding it to your collection.

Fantastic School Chart on the History of the NSDAP (Item NSD 14-7)

DESCRIPTION: This is one of those rare bits that Germania is very proud to offer; an item that in our opinion exceeds in historical importance all the jackboots, field packs, Iron Crosses, miscellaneous patches, and even rare daggers. The obvious first consideration is this: how many of the “Kulturtrager” GI’s would have bothered to loot something like this and bring it back even considering the limited space in their duffel bags? How many pure NS-themed items like this would have survived the destruction of historical treasures wrought by the “Kulturvandels” of the new German government of the mid 1940s and 1950s? Remember, everything that traced the history or glorified the former regime came under their Mongol-type frenzy of wanton destruction which, by the way, continues in Germany, today. This chart is one of those that would usually hang over a blackboard in a school where the history of the NSDAP would be addressed, as well as the events that preceded it since the year 1900. Across the top are dates 1900 to 1940, when the chart was produced. To the student from the era to the student today (you), this is an invaluable aid to the chronological road to understanding all of these events. Besides being a prodigiously important relic of the Third Reich as one follows the dates across the top, you look below them to view just what was going on and what earth-shattering event was noted during that time. You will be reminded or informed of everything of importance to German history from the rule of the Hohenzollern dynasty to the opening phases of the Second World conflict that began in 1939, where the map is shown that traces Germany’s quest for the return of territories stolen from them in the shameful Versailles Treaty, and the return of essential German folk once more to the Reich (now united). When you study the chart various historical events jump at you:

Hitler Head Token Commemorating the 1933 Victory of the NSDAP (Item NSD 14-8; AH 21-3)

DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful silver-coin-sized token that is called the Victory token. It is struck in pure silver and has a bust portrait of Adolf Hitler with his name spelled out and the words “Unser die Zukunst,” “Ours, the Future.” On the back is the German eagle breaking away the chains of the Versailles Treaty. Around the edges it says “Im Jahr Deutscher Schicksalswende, 1933,” “In the Year of the Change of Fate for Germany, 1933” and, of course, that was the year of Adolf Hitler’s assumption of complete power. The token is about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and it is in pretty fine condition, but show quite a bit of honest wear probably from being carried in the pocket of a German patriot for many years. It still is a fine and historically important piece of history.

NS People’s Radio, Deutsches Volksempfänger (Item NSD 14-9)

DESCRIPTION: This is a genuine NS people’s radio known as the Volksempfänger, or a better translation might be “people’s receiver.” This one was only one of a range of radio receivers developed by Otto Griessing at the request of Joseph Goebbels. The purpose of the Volksempfänger program was to make radio-reception technology affordable to the general public. J. Goebbels realized the great propaganda potential of this relatively new medium and thus considered widespread availability of receivers highly important. The original model was presented August 18, 1933, at the International Funkausstellung in Berlin. It was produced by various companies after this and was sold in the millions. Almost every family had its people’s radio. Nevertheless, they are quite rare today and seldom does one show up. The one we offer looks fine on the shelf, but it has a chip of the Bakelite material at its bottom missing and a noticeable crack seen only when the radio is turned upside down. As far as all the tubes, parts, etc., being all there, I’m afraid I just don’t know; I’m no technician. The outside look of this piece is fine and would be a great display. A customer of ours once rigged a small tape recorder to the speaker in one of these and with a long cord was able to fool guests into thinking that the Führer’s actual voice was emitting through that 74-year-old radio—“great effect.” The radio measures 10 x 7 inches the top and 7 inches deep. It has the European plug arrangement. So here is an important piece of WWII-era history for your consideration. It is a great relic and seldom seen in the U.S.

Straight Razor from the Famous Dagger Manufacturer J.A. Henckels (Item NSD 14-9a)

DESCRIPTION: This is definitely a Third Reich piece of cutlery from a major Solingen Company, which made German daggers in prewar and wartime Germany. This would be a great addition to a collection of fine German blades. The case has the Zwillingswerk twins and the blade of the razor’s hilt also is so marked. It’s in very nice condition; both case and razor, and an item that will stir much interest as a great appurtenance to your fine collection.

German-American Bund

Woman’s Pendant with Enameled Swastika and Oak Leak (Item NSD 14-10; G-ABUND 1-4)

DESCRIPTION: This beautiful little pendant is a “jeweler’s gem.” This is a piece made for export to America in the 1930s. Members of the German-American Bund, of course, included wives and they were organized as well as the men. See the great website by Scott Freeland, German American Bund: Purpose, Organization, and Historical Facts. There you’ll see a great explanation of the groups and various pieces such as flags, letter openers, pictures of leaders and enlisted personnel, etc. See also our stickpin information above. This pendant is constructed wonderfully. It suspends from a hand-finished oak leaf in silver, which is the jump ring or suspension appurtenance to the swastika. The swastika is finished on both sides. This was quite a trick and an amazing innovation. Think about it! It would be almost impossible to do this and have both sides of the swastika facing in the same direction if done in any other way. A regular orthodox jeweler would have been satisfied to simply allow only one side to be enameled and in normal wearing the piece would flip over from time to time and this creation would be as beautiful on one side as the other. The piece about 3/4 inch wide and from the top of the oak-leaf device to the bottom of the swastika it measures almost an inch and a half. This is a spectacular yet elegant bauble from the NS era.

Woman’s Pendant with Enameled Swastika and Oak Leaf (Item NSD 14-10a)

DESCRIPTION: This is another pendant as above, but this one has the earrings to match. Later on in the late 1930s and 1940s, but during the Kampfzeit, they were the rage and so many pieces of jewelry were proudly worn by the faithful supporters of the party. These earrings are made for the lady with pierced ears. They are of silver with high-grade enamel set in. If you are to attend a function such as a “Parteitag,” you certainly will be the most appropriately dressed among the assemblage.

NSDAP (Nazi Party) Document (Item NSD 14-11)

DESCRIPTION: This is simply an official letter on NSDAP letterhead that discusses administration of a music school. Not so very important as to document content, but it is a very nice NSDAP letterhead dated 71 years ago and sent form famed Heidelberg University. This is a nice historical document expertly matted and framed with acid-free mounting and it very worthy of inclusion in an early party collection.

Unofficial NSDAP Stickpins in Silver (Item NSD 14-13; SA 11-13)

DESCRIPTION: This is the national eagle SA-style stickpin with the early form short-armed eagle with an almost oversized wreath and swastika. This eagle can be seen on pictures of NSDAP members’ neckties and somewhere we have seen the Führer himself sporting one of these on his coat. It was something sold by companies in Ludenscheid and other manufacturing businesses throughout the Reich, but struck in actual silver. This came down to the workbench of of a master jeweler, who was the major producer of the silver jewelry producing the finest silver insignia majority. This is a large-sized stickpin for the brown shirt Storm Trooper who, while out of uniform, still wanted the public to know that he was a proud NS supporter and member of the SA. That this was not officially an SA badge is a matter of fact. The large one shown here is about 1 1/4 inches across. The wings are about an inch high. There was a smaller more petite one as well that we offer also; same design, but quite a bit smaller. We show both here for comparison. They are both marked with the ‘800’ stamp on the back.

NS Party Patriotic Pillow (Item NSD 14-14)

DESCRIPTION: Here is an extraordinary example of an effort of patriotic endeavor in the years 1933 to the late 1930s. A great fervor of jubilance accompanied the rise to power of the National Socialist Party. This enthusiastic ecstasy and exultation was only natural because the populace thought it had been delivered from the horrible aftermath of World War I by this, the NSDAP, and the manifestations of artistic expression found its way into swastika depictions on everything from cigarette boxes to sewing thimbles. Swastika flags were seen flying from millions of windowsills, in books, on statuettes, on buttons, on pens and pencils, on bells and whistles, and on pillows and permeated the land until about 1938, when commercial trade in such items was banned by the government because it was considered “Kitch” unworthy of the respectable era of the party, now that the “Kampfzeit” was history. The pillow that we offer is really the nicest of these patriotic items that we have seen. It is large at about 24 x 18 inches. It is constructed in a fishnet style of square-joined embroidery—certainly a painstaking task. To fully appreciate it one must look at it from a bit of distance for the words to be perceived. The swastika is clearly shown with rays emanating from it. Why? Because it is a symbol of light; the sun symbol of the ancient Teutons. Then to the right the German greeting, “Heil Hitler.” This is an item that one day will be considered an important relic of the turbulent time when the world gasped in awe of the NS state, for better or worse!

Book Der Ewige Jude, The Eternal Jew (Item NSD 14-15)

DESCRIPTION: This is an anti-Semitic book produced by the Franz Eher Verlag in Munich and Berlin. This was the central publishing office of the NSDAP. The book is extremely rare and many previously sold copies were bought by various civil rights organizations and hidden or burned. We feel that is an important historical edition and needs to be preserved. It has 128 pages chock full of pictures. It purports to show the Jewish people as communists, agitators, crooked financiers, and it shows them as sowers of anticulture and creators of degenerate art (so says the book). It traces the historical aspects of the religion, the people, and their practices. Famous and infamous names and pictures abound, but the theme is always anti-Semitic and first-class culture distorter. This is the way the early Nazi party envisioned the Juden Frage, the Jewish problem! The cover rather says it all as far as the publisher's opinions are displayed. This is one of the rarest and sought-after books of the German 1930s ever to be offered.

PRICE: $950.00; high? No, try to find one! The consigner has allowed us to offer it at a special sale price of $450.00 for a short time. Better grab it!!!

Frauenwerk Engererstab Membership Badge (Item NSD 14-16; PINS 6-11)

DESCRIPTION: This was a section of the Frauenschaft, the NS organization of women. These women were the best representatives of the NS agenda for womanhood. The party needed such female cooperation and support in creating a numerous, healthy German race dedicated to the mythos and agenda of the National Socialist state. In 1931, Greger Strasser, Hitler’s effective party organizer, abolished all existing NS women’s groups and replaced them with one centrally directed body, the NS Frauenschaft . This was mainly designed to direct NS women into activities helpful to their male colleagues. Once the Nazis had established themselves in power the Frauenwerk was established and headed by ideologically reliable party stalwarts in the Frauenschaft , parent organization. This is a beautifully designed pin proudly worn by ladies who insisted on being real ladies!

NS Sport Badge Stickpins, Three Classes (D.R.L.) (Item NSD 14-17)

DESCRIPTION: The DRL sports badge was instituted in 1933 as the “Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesubungen,” or German National Physical Training Union. It was widely awarded to civilians and military personnel who demonstrated proficiency at athletic events. Tests had to be passed annually for the badge to be retained. The badge was awarded in bronze, silver, and gold classes. The swastika was added in 1937. Only the holder of the badge in the various classes could wear the stickpin. We offer here a rare set comprised of all three awards in stickpin form. Many Germans were proud to wear this symbol of national unity of sportsmanship on their tie or lapel. These are really quite scarce, and we are quite proud to offer them.
