Gau-Level Political Leader’s Armband (Item NSD 9-1)

DESCRIPTION: This is shown in the book, Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP and SA, by Lt. Col. (Ret.) John R. Angolia. He shows it as a leader of an MNN Department of the Gau level “Leiter Eines Haupt Amtes.” Everything matches the one shown in black and white on page 66, third form the top. The band is 5 inches wide, while the oak-leaf stripes are approximately ¾ of an inch wide. The band shows use, but not abuse. It is 20 inches long and we have perceived one moth hole (small) on the main band and another larger one, almost hidden away in the top oak-leaf border. The item would be considered soiled, but could be made like new with dry cleaning. That will be up to the buyer, or course. By soiled we do not mean staining, just soiled with age and wear. All in all this is a very excellent specimen, indeed! and as you know it is quite rare at this level.

Imperial Hohenzollern Eagle Pendant (Item NSD 9-2; VETS 1-9; KJEWELRY 2-8)

DESCRIPTION: This handsome little pendant was not manufactured in the Imperial era. It was crafted in the Third Reich era by a jeweler and finisher whom we bought many jewelry pieces from at the Stuttgart Waffenborse a few years ago. These were crafted by him in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s and they were sold to veterans’ organizations such as the Kriegersbund Kyfhauserbund. The purpose was to place them as an amulet or charm on the watch chain or on the chain that is worn suspended across the top flap of a Lederhosen or leather trousers. It was a reminder of loyal service to the regime of Kaiser Wilhelm II Hohenzollern. The ladies of the groups often wore them as pendants of patriotic remembrances. You will love to wear this around the neck as a proud Germanophile. This is 100-percent original and beautiful. It’s marked “800” genuine silver with the requisite ½ moon and crown. The size is a little bit bigger than a quarter (U.S. 25-cent piece). Great detail.

PRICE: $575.00; well spent

High-Ranking Political Leader’s Uniform (Item NSD 9-3)

DESCRIPTION: According to all the information that we have been able to garner from Angolia’s hornbook on this special corps, this is a Gau-level uniform. TheGauleitung was subordinate directly to Adolf Hitler and the Reichleiters. It was the second-highest level of the NSDAP political structure. The very basis of the party was the political leader. The Führer was responsible for the appointment of the Reichs, Gau, and Kreis leaders. This uniform was for Oberbereichsleiter (a senior zone leader). The book we have referred to is cloth insignia of the NSDAP and SA by LTC (Ret) John R. Angolia, and on page 52 we see the Oberbereichsleiter collar tabs. On page 66 we see the armband at the top of the page that tells us that this armband on our tunic is for a Leiter einer Hauptstelle (leader of a main post within the Gau). There were 43 Gau in Germany. This was an administrative district consisting of several Kreise and headed by a Gauleiter. (roughly equivalent to the governor of a state). The Gauleitung were high-ranking political officers who worked with the Gauleiter in all affairs of state. The uniform is in excellent shape; average size probably a 42 jacket? The golden-colored buttons have M5/76 markings. There are no labels in the tunic or trousers. The hat has one good-sized moth hole on top and four smaller ones. Otherwise it’s in really good blocked shape. The liner is fine, but the leatherette inner band is a bit tattered. The Tuchmütze or service cap, “RZM” label is there no. 378989. The trousers are the riding style with zippered lower portions where the boots would cover them. Armband is in top shape. All in all, this is an extremely rare and profoundly important relic of the Third Reich infrastructure, except for a Reichs-level uniform. They don’t come better. At least we have never seen any better offered on the worldwide web.

Book Gross Deutschland (Item NSD 9-4)

DESCRIPTION: Of all the period books of the Third Reich, this has to rank as the very best. Published in 1940, in the soon-to-be-murdered city of Dresden, this beautiful and profusely pictured book contains 364 pages concerning the accomplishments of Adolf Hitler and his followers, his army, and the German nation. Unlike many other books that we present in these pages, this one is not wholly concerned with the history of Germany or even particularly the history of the NSDAP. Rather, it was a statement of now! And now was 1940. It is unfortunate that the horrible fratricidal war broke out in 1939, because Germany had fully recovered from the horrors and devastation and was on her way to the “Imperium” that Oswald Spengler thought might descend on the Fatherland in his book, The Decline of the West. Unfortunately for the western world this was not to be and what we see today is a continuum of the fate that the great author predicted should Imperium not be grasped. This book shows what might have been, while it was being fervently promoted and laboriously attempted. The pictures practically tell it all, but the text for the German reader is dynamic. The pictures we show here are only a small part of the great assemblage. The cover is in red leatherette with gold letters proclaiming “Great Germany.” She certainly was! The book measures 9 x 11 inches and is 1 1/2 inches thick.

There is an “HW” signature. The ribbon is with the Hessen-Nassau colors of red and white. This is a truly rare medal; the first we have seen in 40-odd years. Official Government Dagger in Near-Mint Condition (Item NSD 9-10; GEN 9-10; DIPLO 1-2)

DESCRIPTION: Adopted in 1939, this dagger was authorized for wear for selected governmental officials of the Foreign Ministry. Thomas Johnson’s book, Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Vol. 1, pages 94 and 95, shows this style dagger and illustrates the differences between the diplomats’ dagger and the government officials’ dagger. As to availability to collectors, he says, ‘very rare.’ This dagger is by the firm of Eickhorn in Solingen. This is actually the most sought after of the makers on this particular weapon. It has, of course, the famous squirrel logo on the blade with wording ‘original Eickhorn Solingen.’ Instead of going into much detail about each and every part, it should suffice to say that the dagger is the best as close-to-mint example we have ever encountered. The mother-of-pearl grip is described best by saying it is full of the fire of beauty and is unchipped and excellent. The dagger has its original portepee. Blade is 100 percent with no abrasions or darkening (bright!). Here is an offering of a Third Reich treasure that is so rare that it is possible we may never encounter another at this most reasonable price. They do not come better.

München Haupstadt der Bewegung Stickpin (Item NSD 9-12; PINS 4-16)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a very important and pretty little stickpin. This badge with the famous Karlstor and the Munich maid was the Third Reich symbol for the city that was deemed the spiritual center of the NSDAP (Nazi Party). This was the birthplace of the movement (Bewegung). The figure in front of the gate has been called at various times the Munich Child, the Munich Maid, or the Munich Monk. It is said to be a monk’s robe on the first child born after a historic massacre in the 10th century, but has come to be endeared by Munichers and visitors to this beautiful city for centuries. Above the gate and between the towers is the Hoheitsadler or German eagle of the Third Reich. The pin is in genuine ‘835’ silver.

PRICE: $195.00; rare!
